Tibetan Village Project

On a trip to Tibet in 2007, I was moved by the poverty of the children and their inadequate clothing for the cold climate.  I also saw their malnutrition and lack of school supplies and decided to help.  I contacted Tamdin Wangdu from the Tibetan Village Project and learned about the many ways that his organization donates (Please see below).  I have raised money for coats and blankets and school supplies and also built a green house in a remote village so that vegetables can be grown year round.  The pictures of the happy and thankful kids say more than I can about how a gift from the heart can change lives.  Please read about the activities of the Tibetan Village Project and give what you can……help a child and your heart will expand!

Thank You!

From Tamdin:

“First, we are currently finishing to build a greenhouse for an orphanage in Kham. The greenhouse extends the growing season from four months to ten months. It will provide food and promotes healthier diet for 48 kids (mostly orphans).  We raised enough money to finish basic construction but need to raise about $1000 for insulation and
irrigation of the greenhouse.  You welcome to learn more about these kids at http://www.tibetanvillageproject.org/projects/education/pa_lhakang.htm.
We already build several greenhouses for school kids in the past and they are working well.”

Tibetan Village Project (TVP) is a non-profit, non-political organization dedicated to promoting sustainable development while preserving the rich cultural heritage of Tibet. The organization was founded in 2001 by Tamdin Wangdu and his wife, and relies on volunteers and donations from the general public. TVP’s small operation is mainly funded by income generated from its volun-tourism trips (Conscious Journeys) to Tibet. To learn more, visit www.TibetanVillageProject.org.
